It's simple. Using the Instacart app or website, shop for beer, wine, liquor and extras like soda, mixers, non-alcoholic drinks, or food from a store near you in California. Then, Instacart will connect you with a personal shopper in your area to shop and deliver your order. You can track your order is progress and communicate with your shopper every step of the way using the Instacart app or website. However, additional alcohol cannot be added to your cart once you have placed your order. Contactless delivery is available with our “Leave at my door” option. The Instacart shopper will scan the back of your ID card when delivering alcohol items to verify your age. If they cannot scan your ID, manual entry is acceptable for some orders, though this method cannot be used in California or for any Walmart or Costco orders nationwide. Instacart shoppers will not deliver alcohol items to those who are visibly intoxicated.

• Delivery fees start at $3.99 for same-day orders over $35. Fees vary for one-hour deliveries, club store deliveries, and deliveries under $35.
• Service fees vary and are subject to change based on factors like location and the number and types of items in your cart. Orders containing alcohol have a separate service fee.
• Tipping is optional (but highly encouraged!) for delivery orders. It's a great way to show your shopper appreciation and recognition for excellent service. 100% of your tip goes directly to the shopper who delivers your order.

Yes, Instacart will check your ID for alcohol deliveries in California. Instacart customers in California must be 21 or older to order alcohol items and provide an approved photo ID showing their birthdate at delivery.

Instacart accepts these valid forms of ID for alcohol deliveries or pick up orders in California:
- United States-issued driver's license with photo
- United States-issued military ID
- State-issued identification card
- United States-issued passport*
