How to Make Salsa Roja: Step by Step

  1. Rinse and cut the stems off of the Jalapeños.
  2. Heat up a medium saucepot to almost smoking.
  3. Sear your jalapeños so they’re brown on 2 sides.
  4. Add water to the pot until the jalapeños are submerged.
  5. Boil jalapeños until they are soft.
  6. Put the canned tomatoes, jalapeños, cilantro, green onion, and garlic in a blender.
  7. Add some salt and pepper to taste and blend.
  8. Once it’s blended to your liking, check the seasoning and add salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Serve with chips, tacos, quesadillas, tostadas. Whatever you like salsa on.
  10. Additional Salsa-making Tip: Consider saving your boiling liquid to thin out the salsa if needed.

  • 1 28oz Can of Whole San Marzano Tomatoes

  • 7 Jalepeños (10 if you’re feeling spicy)

  • 1 Bunch of Cilantro (Cut off stems)

  • 2 Green Onions (Cut off roots)

  • 5 Garlic Cloves (Whole)

  • Salt + Pepper to Taste

  • Additional Recommended Supplies
