3. If you have Mageirocophobia, what are you afraid of?
Mageirocophobia is a fear of cooking. It’s actually extremely common but is only considered a “phobia” when the fear is so extreme that it interferes with day-to-day life.
4. What type of food holds the world record for being the most stolen around the globe?
Cheese! It’s estimated that as much as 4% of the cheese produced around the world is stolen. That equates to as much as 90.6 million tons of cheese each year!
Where were chocolate chip cookies invented?
Chocolate chip cookies were invented in Massachusetts in 1930 when Ruth Wakefield, owner of the Toll House Inn, added broken pieces of a chocolate bar to her cookie dough expecting them to melt.
6. What is the only fruit with seeds on the outside?
Strawberries! Each average-sized strawberry has about 200 seeds on the outside.
7. Which variety of chili pepper is considered the hottest in the world?
The Carolina Reaper is the current Guinness World Record holder, with an average of 1,641,183 SHUs (Scoville heat units). While the ghost pepper held this title in 2007, it only has an average of 600,000 SHU.
8. What is the common name for the Chinese gooseberry fruit?
Exporters changed the name of this delicious fruit to “kiwifruit” in the 1950s due, in part, to consumers not wanting to buy “Chinese” items during the peak of the cold war.
9. Mozzarella cheese is traditionally made from the milk of what animal?
While much of the mozzarella cheese in the United States is now made from cow’s milk, traditionally, it is produced using the milk of a water buffalo.
10. Where were French fries first invented?
While the name may lead you to believe this potato-based treat originated in France, Belgium is actually credited with the invention of French fries.

Coca-Cola was created by pharmacist Dr. John S. Pemberton in May of 1886. After creating it, he brought it to Jacob’s Pharmacy in Atlanta, where it was tasted, declared “excellent,” and sold at the soda fountain for five cents per glass.
2. “Spam” is a popular food in Hawaii. Which two words were combined to create the brand name?
Spiced ham. The name was actually created by Ken Digneau, the brother of a Hormel executive, who entered a naming contest for the brand and won a $100 prize for his submission.
3. Rice Krispies cereal has three mascots – what are their names?
The cartoon mascots for Rice Krispies cereal are named Snap, Crackle, and Pop. They were first introduced in 1933.
4. Where were Doritos chips invented?
Disneyland! In the 1960s, Dorito’s parent company Frito Lay had a restaurant inside the park named Casa de Fritos. This is where the first Doritos were made.
5. Which fast food restaurant has the largest number of retail locations in the world?
Subway. This shop, which first opened in 1965, now has approximately 41,500 locations around the globe. McDonald’s comes in second, with around 37,900 locations worldwide.

4. What state is credited for being the birthplace of the cheeseburger?
The first cheeseburger is credited to Louis E. Ballast, the owner of the Humpty Dumpty Barrel restaurant in Denver, which is also dubbed “Colorado’s first drive-in.” It was first served in 1935.
5. In Newark, New Jersey it’s illegal to sell this food item after 6 pm without a doctor’s note – what food is it?
Ice cream! While it’s not clear what the purpose was, this strange U.S. law still remains on the books today.
