Expanding our APIs to support the post-checkout experience
To deliver excellent customer experiences, retailers must provide their customers with seamless post-checkout communications. Customers need to feel that they’re in control of everything that happens from the moment they check out online to the moment their order is delivered. At Instacart, we’ve invested heavily in developing frictionless post-checkout experiences on the Instacart App in order to give our customers that control.
We’re excited to now offer an end-to-end post checkout experience, also available via an API, for retailers to use on their owned-and-operated sites. Integrated post-checkout experiences not only put customers in control of their orders, but also increase loyalty and customer satisfaction.
For retailers with more advanced development capabilities, the post-checkout API gives them the ability to deliver an enriched post-checkout experience to their customers directly from within their owned-and-operated digital properties. Learn more about the API in the docs.
For retailers looking to enable post-checkout capabilities quickly and efficiently, the order status page is an Instacart-hosted page that provides customers with a place where they can interact with shoppers and track their orders. Retailers can even customize this page with their logo and brand color, giving them control over the customer experience, without the need to have a fully dedicated development team.
Together, these two new features allow our retailers to deliver best-in-class omnichannel experiences, while also giving them more control over the customer experience. Here is some of the functionality these features enable:
- Order status: Provide the most up-to-date information on the status of the order ✅
- Item list view: View the current list and shopping status of all items in the order 🛒
- Replacements: The ability to approve or reject replacements made during shopping 🥕
- Delivery stats: Periodic location updates during delivery 🚗
We are continuing to enhance the features and functionality of the Instacart Connect product line, so stay tuned for more updates to come. In the meantime, if you’re curious to learn more about how you can better enable seamless omnichannel commerce across your owned-and-operated properties, reach out to your Instacart account rep today!
