Improving Shoppers’ Experience from Login to Delivery

Today, we’re excited to introduce a suite of new features for Instacart shoppers that will simplify your experience – from logging into the app to delivery – making shopping and delivering as seamless and secure as possible.

“Giving shoppers the tools and support they need so they can shop how and when they want is incredibly important to us,” said John Adams, Vice President of Shopper & Fulfillment Product at Instacart. “We’re committed to adding new features to the Shopper app that help streamline the shopper experience and eliminate any issues that may arise so shoppers can focus on doing what they do best – providing excellent service to their customers.”

Log in faster with passkeys

We’re improving the login process for shoppers by introducing the ability for you to log in using your device’s facial recognition and fingerprint identification features for faster and more secure access to your shopper account. After enabling passkeys, you will no longer need to verify your account information via text when signing in, meaning you’ll be able to start shopping more quickly.

Ensuring quick and easy deliveries

When it comes to delivering customer orders, we understand the importance of having accurate address and delivery information so you can complete the delivery and move on to your next earning opportunity. That’s why, today, we’re announcing features that will help you deliver more efficiently.

  • Improved address data: We’re now giving customers the option to match their provided in-app addresses with those listed in the USPS database so you can have confidence knowing the address you’re delivering to is accurate. We’re also prompting customers to provide more detailed information like unit and floor numbers, to help you locate the customer more easily.
  • Extended chat time: We’re also introducing the ability for you to chat with your customers for up to 20 minutes after a delivery is completed to ensure a successful completion of their order.
  • Leaving the porch light on: We’re now sending customers a notification to turn their porch light on if it’s dark outside when you’re delivering their order. Not only does this help you identify the delivery location, but it can also provide peace of mind when making night time deliveries.

These updates are part of our ongoing commitment to giving shoppers support while you shop and beyond. We expect them to roll out to all shoppers and customers in the coming weeks.
