Unlocking New Ways to Earn for Shoppers

Earlier this year, we introduced our renewed commitments to shoppers, kicking off an ongoing effort to build a better shopping experience. Today, we’re building on our commitment to provide you with ingredients to earn on your terms, with the launch of two new ways to earn while shopping with Instacart.

Bulky Batches
Shoppers who own a large vehicle, such as a hatchback, SUV, minivan, or pickup truck, may now be eligible to access even more batches. With the launch of Bulky Batches, we’re unlocking a wider assortment of products across categories that now includes items like rugs, patio umbrellas, and storage bins. Customers will be able to place Big & Bulky orders at retailers like Big Lots, Container Store, Mastermind Toys, Office Depot, Spirit Halloween, and Staples with more to come in the coming weeks.

Once you’ve confirmed your vehicle is eligible and have opted-in, you’ll have access to a brand new set of batches containing larger items that will fit in your vehicle. As always, batch payment will be based on factors including number and weight of items in the batch, and will include heavy pay when applicable.

If you have an eligible vehicle and you haven’t already opted in to receive Bulky Batches, you can opt in by tapping “Access More Batches” in the Shopper app. In our initial test zones, 97% of eligible shoppers opted in to deliver these batches.

Two-Wheeler Deliveries
While we unlock additional earnings opportunities for shoppers who have a larger vehicle, we also want to support individuals who may not have access to a car. We’re introducing new delivery options in select regions for individuals who have an electric bike or moped. By enabling these types of deliveries, we’re making it possible for even more people to earn on the Instacart platform. These batches will be limited to shorter distances and fewer item counts, to make sure they can be easily fulfilled without a car.

We’ll begin testing these new delivery types in select cities across the U.S and Canada in the coming weeks.

We’re excited to introduce these new opportunities for shoppers to increase your earnings, whether you have a large vehicle or none at all. We look forward to bringing you new updates and product features that will improve your experience as a shopper in the coming months.
