Expanding with Walmart Canada to Pilot a New Virtual Convenience Store, Powered by Instacart Platform

Today, we’re excited to share that we’ve expanded our collaboration with Walmart in Canada to launch Walmart Now – a new virtual convenience store pilot powered by Instacart Platform and facilitated directly through existing Walmart stores. Available on the Instacart App and at https://walmart-now-convenience.instacart.ca/, built with Carrot Storefront, Walmart Now is the first virtual convenience store available in Canada and gives Walmart customers within the pilot area in Toronto access to a wide assortment of fresh groceries, pantry and household essentials, snacks and more for delivery in as fast as 30 minutes.

The Walmart Now pilot is powered by Instacart Platform, a suite of enterprise-grade technologies that provide retailers across North America access to the tools they need to launch and support new e-commerce and fulfillment offerings for customers. To power the white-label e-commerce experience for Walmart Now, Walmart utilizes Carrot Storefront, an end-to-end whitelabel e-commerce solution, in addition to the Instacart App, to offer convenience delivery in as fast as 30 minutes to customers.

“We’re proud to grow our relationship with Walmart to launch Walmart Now  – a streamlined way for Canadian customers to access the groceries and goods they need from Walmart in as fast as 30-minutes,” said Chris Rogers, Vice President of Retail at Instacart. “Customers today expect convenience and quick delivery paired with broad selection. We know these components are fundamental as retailers seek to build the best online grocery experience for their customers. By collaborating with leading retailers like Walmart and providing Instacart Platform solutions that are purpose-built for grocery, we’re making it easier for retailers to get customers exactly what they need, when they need it.”

Instacart and Walmart Canada began working together in 2018, and have already been offering customers delivery in as fast as an hour from more than 250 Walmart Canada locations across the country via the Instacart App and www.walmart.ca, powered by Carrot Connect. With today’s news, the retailer now offers delivery in as fast as 30-minutes powered by Instacart and facilitated directly through existing Walmart stores on the Instacart App and at https://walmart-now-convenience.instacart.ca/.
