Getting Started with Tax Exemption and Team Member Accounts on Instacart Business
Today, we’re introducing two highly requested features that will make it even easier for Instacart Business customers to save time and money on business deliveries, from ingredients to snacks to supplies.
Tax Exemptions for Qualified Businesses: Eliminate Manual Tax Refunds
Qualified businesses, like nonprofits and restaurants, can now streamline their business ordering with tax exempt purchasing on Instacart.
- Easy, fast enrollment: Set up your tax exemption in a few easy clicks and get your tax-exempt business order the same day. Simply upload your certificate in a matter of minutes and arrange for your tax exempt order to be delivered in a few hours or less; once verified, eligible taxes will automatically be removed at checkout on qualifying orders. Businesses can also access and manage their certificates and important certificate information (e.g. expiry dates) directly in the Tax Exemptions menu.
- Streamlined ordering, now live in 33 states: Avoid the manual process of requesting a tax refund– tax exempt purchasing is now live for eligible Instacart Business customers in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Washington, Washington DC, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming, with additional states launching in the coming months.
To upload your organization’s tax exemption form, navigate to the new “Tax Exemptions” section of Business Profile Settings, accessible from the Account Page section of the settings menu in the Instacart app or Instacart.com.
Team Member Accounts and Dashboard: Simplify and Streamline Team Collaboration
Instacart Business users with multiple business locations or buyers can now have unlimited team members access and manage the organization’s ordering simultaneously– no more sharing login credentials or struggling to coordinate orders! Each team member can now create their own unique account, making it easier than ever to work efficiently and collaboratively.
- Divide business ordering duties with unlimited team members: With multi-seat accounts, business owners can create an organization, seamlessly add and remove members and assign them Admin or Buyer designations.
- Increased visibility into team spend with Dashboard: Admins can see Buyers’ total spend, spend broken down by category, and all of the team’s prior orders, making auditing a breeze.
To set up your organization and add members as Admins or Buyers, navigate to the “Team Members” section of the Instacart settings menu in the Instacart app or on Instacart.com.
