Instacart’s 3rd Annual Giving Tuesday Campaign: Shop & Support Partnership for a Healthier America

At Instacart, we believe everyone should have access to nutritious food that helps them thrive. However, the reality is that millions of Americans live in communities where access to fresh produce is either limited or non-existent, leaving many people with a difficult choice between convenience and nutrition.

It’s our mission to help increase access to fresh and nutritious food so families no longer have to choose. For this reason, we’re pleased to announce our third annual Giving Tuesday campaign – and our first in partnership with several mission-aligned CPG brands – supporting Partnership for a Healthier America and thousands of families across the country.

Starting today through December 4, we’re excited to invite customers to support families in need while also reaping the benefits of adding better-for-you products to their carts from household names Keurig Dr Pepper (Core Hydration® and Mott’s®), Dole Packaged Foods, and OLIPOP. For every customer dollar spent via Instacart on select products, we and the participating CPG’s will donate 1 serving of fruits and vegetables to PHA, up to 1 million servings.

At Instacart’s core, we’re a technology company with the reach and power to help transform and scale nutrition access. Using our Instacart Health technology, we partnered with PHA to launch food access community programs this year – starting in Indianapolis – and found that online produce stipends like Fresh Funds improved nutrition security and empowered families to build sustained healthy eating habits. Following the success of the Indianapolis program, we’ll be providing Fresh Funds stipends for produce to more than 1,100 families in four new cities: Denver, Colorado; Englewood, New Jersey; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Washington D.C. in the coming months. The donations from the Giving Tuesday campaign and our PHA Fresh Funds programs are all part of our long-term commitment to bring 10 million servings of produce to underserved communities by 2025.

We’re honored to support PHA to help make communities across the country healthier during the week of Giving Tuesday with the generous support of Core Hydration®, Dole Packaged Foods, Mott’s®, and OLIPOP – brands that share our mission of nutritious food access for all. Join us and make a difference this week by visiting and shopping at www.instacart.com/givingtuesday.

This year’s Giving Tuesday campaign is also designed in support of our Instacart Health initiative, and we need everyone at the table in order to make the biggest impact. Over the past year, we’ve made great strides towards our mission to give everyone access to the foods they need by partnering with organizations across the healthcare ecosystem to scale nutrition security and food as medicine programs across the country

As part of our Instacart Health work, we’ve made it easier for people to access and pay for nutritious foods online and this year became the first and only online grocery marketplace to allow customers to pay with SNAP benefits online in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Now, nearly 95% of the 42 million people enrolled in SNAP can buy groceries online and have them delivered right to their homes.*

We’re also proud to be working with partners like Kaiser Permanente, Stanford Cancer Institute, American Heart Association, and Rockefeller Foundation, that are using our technology to develop, launch, and study groundbreaking food as medicine and produce prescription programs.

Through all of these programs, Instacart Health is helping more individuals access the nutritious food they need to thrive this holiday season. Together with our partners, we’re promoting a happy and healthy new year for families across the country.

*Based on the number of people in the U.S. enrolled in SNAP (USDA) in 2022. Instacart estimate (as of July 2023) based on the number of EBT SNAP households in areas serviced by EBT SNAP-enabled retailers on Instacart.
