Joining our Table: Meet Mark Schaaf
We’re pleased to have Mark Schaaf onboard as Chief Technology Officer at Instacart.
Mark joined the Instacart family in September from Thumbtack, an online service that allows consumers to connect with local professionals, where he served as CTO. Prior to that, Mark led a team of engineers at Google within the mobile display advertising division.
In a Q&A for our Tech Blog, we asked Mark, “why Instacart?” Beyond being a loyal user and fan of the product since 2014, Mark states:
“When you look under the hood, Instacart’s engineering challenges are really complex. We’ve got a massive, four-sided marketplace; and then we have to run a logistics operation on top of that…that’s a lot of engineering.”
*This announcement was made public on September 11, 2018.
