Cover and let stand 1 hour. Drain soak water and rinse beans. Overnight Soak: Rinse and sort beans in a large pot to 1 lb of beans (2 cups) add 6-8 cups cold water. Let stand overnight or at least 6 to 8 hours. Drain soak water and rinse beans. Cooking Directions: Add 6 cups of hot water to drained and rinsed beans. Simmer gently with lid titled until desired tenderness us reached, about 1-1/2 to 2 hours. Crock Pot Cooking - Easy as 1,2,3. 1. Soak While You Sleep: Rinse and sort beans in a large bowl or pot, add 8 cups cold water to each pound of beans. Allow to stand overnight at least 6 hours at room temperature. Drain off soak water and rinse beans. 2. Cook While You Work: Place soaked beans in crock pot, cover with water and cook on low for 10 hours. 3. Season and Serve: Add your favorite seasonings and serve. Beans are a natural agricultural product. Despite use of modern cleaning equipment, it is not always possible to remove all foreign material.
