Directions

Cooking Directions: To retain vitamins, do not rinse before or drain after cooking. Cook Top: Combine 1 cup of rice and 2 cups of water in a 3-quart saucepan and bring to a boil. *Reduce heat and cover tightly. Simmer 15-20 minutes, or until rice is tender and all of the water is absorbed. Fluff lightly with a fork and serve. Makes 4 servings, 3/4 cup each. Microwave: In a 2-quart microwave-safe dish, combine 1 cup of rice and 2 cups of water.* Cover and microwave on high for 5 minutes, or until boiling. Reduce settling to 50% power (medium), and microwave for 15 minutes, or until water is absorbed. Let stand 5 minutes. Fluff lightly with a fork and serve. *Add 1 tablespoon of margarine, butter or oil and 1 teaspoon salt if desired. For drier rice, use 1 3/4 cups water. For moister rice, use 2 1/4 cups water.
