Pre-prohibition style beer. Est. 1859. Authentic German malt. Authentic German hops. Nashville Amber is a historic pre-prohibition style amber lager. Originating from Vienna in the mid 1800's, amber lagers are derived when new kilning methods created malts that were light in cob contributing to a rich amber color. European immigrants brewed amber lagers in America which were slightly lighter and less malty than their European cousins. Although extremely popular prior to prohibition, fiber lagers all but disappeared afterwards. We are proud to resurrect this wonderful pre-prohibition style Amber Lager. The Nashville Brewery first opened in 1859 on the corner of South High Street (now 6th Ave S.) and Mulberry Street. It closed shortly afterwards due to the Civil War but reopened in 1864 and operated as Nashville Brewing Company under various ownership until 1893. A historical marker now marks the spot where the brewery once operated in Nashville's famous Gulch district. 859 -1860: Jacob Stiefel. 1864 -1876: Stiefel & Pfeiffer. 1876-1878: J.B.
