Ingredients
Organic Nori (porphyra Tenera)
Directions
Please note that this selected nori requires care to keep its crisp texture and flavor at its peak. It has been packed with a moisture absorbent which is not to be eaten, and is best kept away from children. After opening this toasted nori, please keep it cool, dry, and away from direct sun. Nori-Maki (Nori Rolls with Rice): Place a sheet of Toasted Sushi Nori on a bamboo sushi mat. Spread about 1-1/2 cups of your favorite cooked rice across the surface of the nori, as shown, covering the lower 3/4 of the nori sheet. The amount of rice you use will determine the diameter of the finished nori roll. The real fun is deciding on the ingredients you wish to use at the core of the roll. Remember that color is an important feature here. Slivered vegetables, whether raw, or cooked, offer many opportunities. Ripe avocados are sumptuous, smoked fish is delightful; let your creativity stretch. Japanese wasabi (a type of horseradish) is a traditional and memorable touch of heat and heightened flavor. Lay the core ingredients across the center of the rice, to the full width of the nori. To roll, hold the core ingredients in place with your fingertips, and use your thumbs to lift the end of the mat. The edge of the nori sheet nearest you should be lifted over to meet the far edge. Slightly dampen the farther edge of the sheet so that the edges adhere to each other. Briefly press the mat around the roll to shape it, and let the roll. sit on its seam to make sure it stays wrapped. Cut the roll crosswise into bite-size pieces. Use a sharp, wet knife, and clean the knife between cuts. Well-cut slices are very appetizing and appealing. Serve with a dip of natural soy sauce.
