Directions

Range Top: 1. Bring 2 1/2 cups water to boil in a 2 -quart heavy saucepan (Add a 1 tbsp tub margarine and 1 tsp salt per 1 cup uncooked rice, if desired, cook as 4 servings of rice, 3/4 cup each). 2. Stir in a 1 cup of rice. 3. Cover it to reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes or until all the water is absorbed. 4. Fluff lightly with fork of serve. Microwave: 1. Mix microwave mix 3 cups of water and 1 cup of rice in a 2 1/2 quart microwave-safe dish. 2. Microwave on high 10 minutes uncovered, then microwave for 20 minutes at 50% power in 1100-watt microwave oven. 3. Let sit for 5 minutes. 4. Fluff lightly with a fork and serve. Do not add salt or margarine to slice until after rice is cooked when using microwave directions. Makes 4 servings of rice, 3/4 cup each. These directions are for an 1100 watt microwave oven, if you do not have this type of microwave please consult the manufacturer’s directions. Cooking measurement chart: Rice: 1 cup; water: 2 1/2 cups; makes: 3 1/2 cups; serving: 5. Rice 2 cups: water: 5cups; makes: 7 cups; serving: 9. Rice 3 cups: water: 7 1/2 cups; makes: 10 1/2 cups; serving: 14. For drier rice, use 1/4 cup less water. For moister rice, use 1/4 cup more water. Refrigerate leftover in a container with a tight-fitting lid. For dinner rice, use 1/4 cup less water. For moister rice, use 1/4 cup more water. To retain vitamins, do not rinse before or after cooking.
