The Revival of a Guarded Recipe: This richly textured bread represents the revival of a long abandoned recipe. Ciabatta was first baked by the monks of Italy's Lake Como monastery. Italian immigrants brought the bread to the south of France, where the formula has since been guarded by the French Baker's Guild Les Compagnons de Devoir. Fat Free by Nature: Called Chapatta in France and Spain, Ciabatta in Italy and Tamthoot in North Africa, the French version uses only flour, water, starter, salt and a small amount of yeast, making it, by nature, fat free. A long resting period contributes to its texture, aroma, satisfying chew and wheaty after taste.
Ingredients
Ingredients: Enriched Unbleached Flour (Wheat Flour, Malted Barley Flour, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Iron, Niacin, Folic Acid), Water, Wheat Starter, Salt and Yeast
Directions
How to Enjoy Ciabatta: Ciabatta is extraordinary for brushetta, pain grille and toasts. To enhance taste and texture, heat Ciabatta for 5 to 7 minutes at 425 degrees Fahrenheit. When freezing, remember to wrap it tightly in a plastic bag. The bread should first thaw for 30 minutes prior to eating, then be heated for several minutes at 425 degree. For best results, let your bread cool 10 minutes before serving.
Warnings
This product is produced in a bakery that may use common food allergens including milk, eggs, wheat, peanuts, soybeans, tree nuts and seeds. May be lightly dusted with rice flower.
