honey & nut bar cookies - 1 cup packed brown sugar, 1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine or butter, softened, 1 egg, 2 tbsp milk, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1-3/4 cups stater bros. Honey nut toasted oats cereal, crushed to 3/4 cup, 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, divided. Directions: preheat oven to 350° f. Lightly grease 13x9x2 inch baking pan. Beat sugar and margarine in bowl until smooth and creamy. Beat in egg, milk and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and 1/4 tsp salt, if desired, in separate bowl. Add to margarine mixture; Mix well. Stir in cereal and 1/4 cup walnuts. (batter will be stiff.) spread evenly in prepared pan. Sprinkle top with remaining 1/4 cup walnuts. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until tester inserted in center comes out clean and top is lightly browned. Cool. Cut into bars. Makes 36 bars
