Basmati Rice, Seasoning (dehydrated Onion, Salt, Dehydrated Green And Red Bell Peppers, Spices, Yeast Extract, Paprika, Dehydrated Garlic, Less Than 2% Silicon Dioxide Added To Prevent Caking)
Directions
Jambalaya can be prepared with your choice of 1 pound vegetables or 1 pound of meat. For vegetarian, use the following diced vegetables: red onions, eggplant, yellow squash & zucchini (this mixture is a suggestion, what you add is up to your creativity). For meat, add 1 pound of diced smoked sausage, shrimp, ham or pre-cooked chicken. Stove Top: 1. Rinse rice in water to remove starch. (Optional: For extra fluffy rice, let stand in water for 15 minutes). 2. Measure 1-1/2 cups of water into a saucepan and add 1 tablespoon of butter (optional). 3. Put on stovetop and add the rice and contents of spice packet and stir. Bring to a boil. Add your vegetables or your meat (optional). 4. When water is bubbling, cover with lid and reduce heat to simmer. Cook on simmer for 20 minutes. 5. Fluff rice lightly with fork before serving. Microwave: 1. Rinse rice in water to remove starch (Optional; For extra fluffy rice, let stand in water for 15 minutes.) 2. In round 2-quart microwaveable glass casserole, combine rice, contents of spice packet, 2 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of butter (optional). Add your vegetables or your meat (optional). 3. Cover; microwave at High 21-24 minutes or until most of water is absorbed (Microwave ovens may vary. Adjust times as needed). Let stand, uncovered, about 5 minutes or until all water is absorbed. Fluff rice lightly with fork before serving.
