Preparation

Pour enough water in a small pot to cover the top of a single layer of eggs.

Bring the water to a gently-rolling boil and then carefully add the eggs (one at a time) with a slotted spoon.

For a softer yolk, cook the eggs for 5 minutes. For a 
thicker soft yolk, cook for 61/2 minutes. Be aware that
you may need to adjust the cooking time depending on the size of the egg.

Prepare a bowl of cold water.

When the eggs are done cooking, carefully move them 
from the boiling water to the cold water (one at a time)
with a spoon. Allow the eggs to sit in the cold water for about 30 seconds. (You can also run cold tap water over the eggs for 30 seconds.)

Peel the eggs and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
