Chicken Teriyaki

  • 8 chicken drumsticks
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1 fresh garlic clove, minced or put through a garlic press
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 380°F.

Heat your sesame oil over medium heat in a small saucepan. Add the cornstarch and mix until the cornstarch dissolves into a paste.

Add fresh garlic and turn heat down to low.

Add soy sauce and honey. Whisk together to get rid of any lumps.

Stir over low heat until the sauce thickens.

Place chicken in a baking dish or pan.

Pour sauce over chicken and coat evenly.

Put the teriyaki chicken in the oven and roast for 20 minutes or until brown, then cover with foil and continue cooking for about 10 minutes or until the chicken reaches a safe internal temperature of 165°F or until the juices run clear when you do a test cut into the meat. Cooking times may vary depending on how big the pieces are.

Serve with steamed brown rice or roasted vegetables as a side dish for a balanced meal.
