When your baby is first born, feeding is a round-the-clock task that you'll typically need to perform 12 times in every 24-hour period. A healthy baby will gain weight steadily and be generally content between feedings. By five days old, your infant should have at least three bowel movements and six wet diapers each day if they're eating enough.
