You should generally aim to cook flounder within a day or two after bringing it home from the store. Make sure you eat leftover cooked whole flounder within three to four days.

However, if your timeline for eating the fish is longer, then freezing it is safe. The best approach is to wrap the whole flounder, still in its store packaging, in heavy-duty aluminum foil or plastic wrap. Then put that whole package into a freezer bag and slide it into your freezer. Whole flounder will retain its freshness for about four months.
